We travelled west to Marsala to reach Mozia; an island within an island; after a short boat trip from mainland Sicily we had arrived on the tiny islet of Mozia; it’s hard work bending our backs to harvest the low-lying albarello cultivated Grillo vines. Once we have collected the grapes we transport them in crates to travel across the Marsala Stagnone, past the huge white mounds of sea salt covered in terracotta tiles. But the result, Grillo di Mozia, is worth all of these efforts.
